The wonderful thing about online is that it opens avenues into meeting all sorts of creative, talented, and welcoming people. I love learning about other entrepreneurs and artists following their passions. Building a community is so important; especially during these tiring times.
I met John (Also known as @_finn), through Instagram. He has always been such a kind supporter. John is also a professional photographer. His work includes portrait, event, travel, products, and food photography. Be sure to give him a follow and check out his portfolio on Instagram!
After some time, we decided that it was long overdue to hang out and go take photos together. He provided his flash equipment, and we went to town! It had been a bit of time since the last I used a flash. Using the flash was very nostalgic. I personally love working with natural lighting and at times, smaller artificial lights can be intimidating. Even more so when mixing it sunlight. The results were lovely and worth it. We both had a blast taking turns and talking photography.
When the photoshoot was over, Samantha (the model), Anna (the lighting assistant at the time), John, and I; decided to go to ‘Tavern on the Hill’. A cute little restaurant where people could social distance and still have a drink or two. The food was absolutely delicious, the scenery was beautiful, and the atmosphere was uplifting.

In Ottawa, I’m hoping that once the lockdown is over and the numbers settled down; I will be able to proceed with the safe, social distancing, collaboration photoshoots of the new year. I have some really exciting things being prepared for when that time comes.
